USPCASW Welcomes Maya Silver as Writing Instructor

A very warm welcome to Maya Silver who joins the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water this summer as the Center's new Writing Instructor.

Silver will build upon the coursework developed by former writing instructor Dr. Rick Bereit as she trains engineering students from Pakistan in professional and academic writing. She will also contribute to programs at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Pakistan--developing workshops to further empower faculty in English language writing instruction and a hybrid (online and in-person) course for students to strengthen their English academic writing.

A recent graduate of the Environmental Humanities Graduate Program at the U, Silver is an accomplished writer whose work has been published by NPR, High Country News, DiningOut Magazine, and Earth Island Journal, among others. Her personal research interests lie in food, the environment and the impact of climate change on population groups. Silver's final graduate project, "Migration Bomb: how climate change will remap our world," is an exploration of the potential social, legal, economic future for climate refugees.
